certain positivity practices such as gratitude are actually inherent to the natural state of being & don't need to be 'practiced', per se. In fact, the practice of gratitude can even be a mask to what one is truly feeling. The feels must come out.

For me gratitude is mostly about the scale you are looking at.
If you look at all the things you don't like about your life it's hard to be grateful.
But on a grand scale, where we are all living in the center of a miracle, it is very easy.

I had to learn gratitide and it's one of the best things I've learned so far.
it's indeed a finer point but gratitude is most definitely our natural state as human beings. To your point, learning is what we do. My point was about making sure feelings are not bypassed in all our 'practices' which I've seen a fair amount of.
I hope it is our natural state, but it certainly wasn't mine.
I see what you mean suppressing feelings certainly isn't healthy.
The challenge seems to be to feel thrm and live them while at the same time not being carried away by them.
There's one great zombie movie that uses the zombie as a metaphor for suppressed feelings that then multiply and come back to haunt us.
Best use of the zombies I ever came across. It's Peter Jackson's Braindead.
yes, for sure I understand what u mean. To clarify, I believe our natural state is what we are gifted with at birth. Much of what is natural is beaten out of us by culture, schools, perhaps unconscious parents, etc.
And re: feeling supression
it's important that all the feels come out. You don't need to hold on to them but if they don't come out they are stored in your body, hidden away, lurking, as "dis-ease".
