I think ppl tend to over-mint (mint more than they "want") but they are playing the slot machine. Then look to sell so they don't feel overleveraged into Lizards then panic sell. Below mint was not that surprising but seeing how cheap the rare+ were going for surprised me.. like that's not trivial and there are less Lizards than frogs…
