Depends on your definition of "useful". My mom has one and uses it sll the time for scrapbooking, making cards, etc. Mostly delicately cut paper. She buys the different dies for cutting. Its very simple though.

Well hell, she might! Everybody I know that has one loves it. But its limited to cutting mostly paper. You can get the luxury(?) edition that will additionally cut fabric, leather and thin wood.
