We are all influenced by the norms of our society, which are a result of religious morals. There were societies in which rape and murder were not immoral and normal at their time.

I cannot attest to the cause of moral systems within societies with a reasonable degree of certainty but I can observe the effects of defined institutions. Religions provide subculture orientation through subjective alignment.
That doesn't mean that you know that religious dogma is the only reason for me to say something. (Dogma is actually the opposite of reason btc.)
