you also have to worry about phishing/malicious apps in the play store due to their requirements for listing being much more lax than within the App store.
I guess that's something for boomers using Android to worry about but certainly a valid concern...
Personally speaking, I've always been relatively good at spotting red flags on Play Store, being overly careful to verify any .APK downloads from elsewhere.
