by design. it used to be supreme. i like to think it is one of the industries hit hardest by both inflation and regulation. notice how much worse it got because of 9-11 alone. you're supposed to think it is for your own safety. but personally, i think much more health damage is done by endless queuing and minimal legroom than any number of "terrorists" could ever have done with scissors and bottles of liquid.

the whole thing one of the most defining 21st century grifts. instill worldwide fear, make international laws, lobby for heaps of security equipment, require id everywhere, restrict freedom of movement, scan all personal property, promote a caste system, move "normal" people around like cattle. That is international air travel. But it is all voluntary, note how there are options to opt out, either by paying premium, or by surrendering to the time preference of the staff/officer in front of you. So technically, on most steps of the way, you were not forced, you simply complied.

meh, I have flown a lot. It's fine. It's actually a miracle how safe and reliable it is. Ripping across the world at 600mph, quite comfortably. Of course the airline does treat me like royalty due to my AURA.
