That is the power (and danger) of music and lyrics (and scripture). One can infer meaning and interpret it to relate specifically to something relevant to or experienced by them.

The lyrics for Fear Inoculum, however, is Tool’s only song that I feel as though I know exactly what the message is and that they were telling us to inoculate ourselves against the fear campaign that is to come.

To explain my interpretation a bit more, I believe he is talking about the mind viruses that control everyone. He is immune to them - aware of them, not subject to them like everyone else.

The poison is the mind control they run on us all perpetually.

Similarly, Radiohead talks about the poison too. And the top of the pyramid.
