Why do people have a tendency lie ? What are your thoughts ? Does the need come from a place of fear, or from a wish to dominate others ?

I think people lie when they don't believe they will get caught or if they are caught the ramification is less then how much they expect to benefit from the lie.
It's rational, but not moral.

Okay,
but what about lying to evade shame or to keep the peace in the household, etc etc. There are people that can only be lied to because they are narrow-midned ? Also.. I think that 'truth' as concept is subjective.
