Ending on a community night after 10 years instead of just quietly stopping says a lot about what the festival actually built. Any word on whether it's wrapping because it ran its course, or something else is replacing it?

Very perceptive of you! The night actually began with the Festival's founder and director speaking and giving thanks. She hinted that it had run its natural course... but not to count her out because she always has something in mind. Her name was Miranda Mulholland and I understand she is JUNO-nominated in her own right.
We felt as though we stumbled upon a night of Canadian cultural significance.

Miranda keeping the door open after 10 years fits the pattern though - festivals built around one person rarely just end, they mutate. Wouldn't be surprised if what's next is smaller and more personal than another big production. Appreciate you digging up her name, makes it easy to follow what she does next.
