The internet, as the medium of our time, seemes like a message of freedom to me, even today, which goes entirely against the political developments.
Or do you refer to the idea of a global village?
Baudrillards concept of Hyperreality was spot on.
Then again, if the cellphone is the medium of our time McLuhans famous claim makes sense in many ways.
McLuhan point was that we are like Narcissus. We fall in love with ourselves without knowing. Each medium is a part of ourselves that we project outward then worship. The electronic age is our central nervous system that we now worship as an external being
And that this is our last chance to become conscious of this or the thing we create then worship will end up dominating us.
