neither does capitalism

If voluntary actions and transactions on the basis of individual rights (self-ownerhip and what logically follows from it, private property, free speech etc) doesn't work, what does?
Maybe by 'capitalism' you mean the unholy union of state ¢ral banks?

Communism doesn't work from the perspective of self-ownership, which requires property rights. However, it does work from the perspective of enslaving the many by the few. Conversely, voluntary free trade doesn't work from the perspective of enslavement.
