The distinction is bigger than the ticker.

Exactly. The interesting question isn’t simply “Which one has the higher price?” — it’s “What are we actually trying to build?”

If Bitcoin was introduced as peer-to-peer electronic cash, then the natural test should be simple:

Can ordinary people use it directly?

Can they send tiny amounts?

Can merchants accept it?

Can businesses process millions of transactions?

Can data and value move on-chain at scale?

Can the network remain useful without pushing everyday activity somewhere else?

That’s where the BSV argument becomes uncomfortable for BTC supporters.

If BTC’s primary narrative has evolved into “buy it, hold it, and wait for it to appreciate”, then perhaps we should be honest about what that represents.

There is nothing inherently wrong with a store of value. Gold has served that role for centuries.

But Bitcoin was supposed to be something more ambitious.

It was supposed to turn value into something that could move directly between people across the internet.

So the real debate isn’t:

BSV vs BTC.

It is:

Bitcoin as a living transaction network vs Bitcoin as a scarce digital asset.

And that leads to the question I keep coming back to:

«If the end goal is simply to hold Bitcoin and never use the base chain for everyday transactions, then what happened to the “electronic cash” part of the original idea?»

Don’t answer with price.

Don’t answer with market cap.

Don’t answer with ETFs.

Answer with utility.

What should Bitcoin actually be able to do for the next billion users?

That’s the debate worth having.
