I saw a buck today with some Yearlings in tow.
The stag noticed me well in advance of the rest of the herd.
None of the other deer were ordered to follow his lead in escaping to the forest. They just did it.
No in a wild herd everyone helps each other to survive better. Leaders do not command. They predict where the rest of the herd will go. If they're right their portfolio grows in value. Then they can buy bigger antlers and teach the rest about survival.
