Part 3 - let that sink in
i arrive at the ferry
i am headed to the island
the company has research labs there
futuristic shit
i do tech support
got to keep those systems up
the weather today is a little cloudy
a little windy
some rain here and there
the waves
a little choppy
we are a few hundred meters offshore
about 2/3rds of the way there
what is that in the sky
a glint
a trail of smoke
it is headed this way
thats a fuckin missile
BOOM - a direct hit
a huge explosion
a giant fireball
i am thrown into the water
the ferry is sinking
screams amongst the smoke and fire
bodies in the water

i wash up on the beach
exhausted
dazed and confused
but i know what that was
the island defence drone
whats so funny?
why am i laughing at this
comedy of errors?
shit is broken
no wonder they called me
im heading to the command centre
i see people on the beach
walking around slowly, looking lost
it is the board of directors
they dont notice me
im going to ask them whats going on
me: hey-
im interrupted by the sand
they throw in my face
when i try to say something
that is their only reaction
they are like zombies. brain dead
hmm. as there seems to be no reasoning with them
i ignore them and move on
to the employee village
it is a small town
with shops and restaurants
and temporary accomodation
the facilities are actually quite good
i remember how impressed i was
the first time i saw it
