this is kukicha (茎茶), or "twig tea", which is made up of the other parts of plants used to make sencha/gyokuro like twigs, stems, and stalks. though its smell may suggest that its a lighter sencha, its a grassy tea. the flavor is odd but quite refreshing

this is "yunnan golden buds", a type of Dian Hong (Yunnan Red) from the Yunnan province. it is a black [red] tea that has a sort of honey-like sweetness to it. honestly i didn't really appreciate black tea until i had this one

Lapsang Souchong, a pinewood roasted black tea. it has a strong fragrance of campfire and mulch. it tastes like a lighter, more nuanced form of the smell with stronger notes of pine. honestly i'm not a big fan, i'd far prefer a kyobancha. too much pine.
pinhead gunpowder, a type of Chinese green tea. it's not a bad tea but it doesn't have much of an interesting flavor, i'd almost prefer drinking water. i like some Chinese greens but this is a great example of how much more interesting Japanese greens are
this is soba cha (そば茶), a Japanese buckwheat (soba) tea from Nagano. it has a really unique flavor and aroma and is pretty sweet. one of my favorite not-teas. it also contains Rutin, a chemical that allegedly has affects like cancer prevention.
