I’m glad I got to learn about the “For You” algorithm.
But that doesn’t mean I’ll particularly care about it—I’ll just keep posting my own way.
Because consciously chasing algorithm hacks means becoming a slave to the platform.
I’m not a slave to Twetch.
For You Feed Algorithm
I have been working on the for you feed for the last 3 weeks and I believe what we have now is the latest and greatest version yet. I am starting to get more and more interested in how content is ranked and chosen to be displayed for users. Here is the current system of record:
- Twetch Green subscribers get a boost
- Text-only posts get a boost
- Video posts get a boost
- Posts that make lots of money get a boost
- Posts that get lots of engagement get a boost 6. Posts that happened while you were away get a boost 7. Users you have engaged with often in the past get a boost
For every 20 post dice-roll
– 10 posts from last 24h
– 7 posts from last 5 days
– 2 posts from days 2-30
– 1 post from the archive "wildcard"
I've heard of people talking about "hacking the algo" and "understanding the algo" but it was always a black hole and almost just a bullshit sales-pitch for people to get marketing clients. For the first time, I'm building an algo, and getting to learn from the inside what works and what doesn't by testing in real time. Interesting stuff!
