Has anyone else noticed the minutes-long, unskippable YouTube ads? Literally 50% the length of the video sometimes. Horrific user experience.

Yep. Using an extra service to get around that doesn't change it.
Shrug. It's all worked fine for me for years, don't even see yt ads on phone browser any more
