A few months ago, OpenClaw absolutely blew up. Everyone was spinning up their 'lobsters' to run autonomous tasks 24/7. But keeping them running non-stop burns through tokens crazy fast, and they barely make enough revenue to cover the API costs.
Some folks tried using their Claws to write novels, run blogs, or even build games. But these projects usually just rely on ad revenue from clicks. Naturally, it’s a losing game, and they end up in the red.
That’s why the vast majority of people eventually just shut down their 'lobsters'.
