Physicists today won’t admit it but they’ve effectively brought back the aether in the form of the Higgs field. I’ve watched lectures regarding the Higgs where it was said “It’s like the aether but not the aether.”
Yes!! There are ongoing experiments trying to measure this holographic effect with incoming gravity waves. It seems there is certainly a higher dimensional geometry from which spacetime/general relativity and quantum mechanics both emerge.
