We have 5 Monal currently. More than originally hatched in NZ. Monal are the most difficult. We have lost three, including one of the coolest birds ever
if you have an ambition never quit it's that simple

“No human ever lived in a birdless world.”
― Richard Smyth
Edmund and Hillary are Danphe and Summits parents.
Hillary came from Butterfly Creek, Auckland airport.
Edmund came from, from, you know.. the thing.
that lady with the ducks, whose friend lived out back of Ngāruawāhia. Pheasants on blockchain. Enjoy!
Prior to 1986 when NZ gamebird import laws changed.
4 Himalayan Monal eggs where brought* into NZ by the past owner of Twin Lakes resort. Three eggs hatched, one male and his two sisters.
No more came here. ALL Monal in NZ are descendant from those three

1986* not 1896
twetch#15283 5.9y
Exotic Pheasant species (mixed breed incubation)
result = 10/18 fertile eggs hatched, we have a problem.
NZ (since 1896) cannot import gamebirds.
What we have in NZ is all there will ever be!
The gene pool is shit. We assume y'all know the plan now
You guys remember Lucky 🤞😅

In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters. And God said, Let there be light: and there was light.
