I see a lot of people I know that I thought were hard working "go getters" have turned soft and do not want to go back to working hard and getting ahead. My age group is older but I see many will settle for "easy street" and semi-retire with less.

People are getting soft. At least here in the US but honestly we are being semi-forced there. Make too much and taxes become ridiculous. Many feel like they are carrying the lazy on their backs thru taxation and think it will only get worse.
