Second step is to make glaze &glaze. I made mine a custom color; to not go too dark, but add some richness to the wood. To do this I used Minwax polyurethane oil based clear, and walnut stain. I used a small Dixie cup size for stain, red solo for Minwax.
Step 3 are touch up/going over it again to add depth&darker tones. Use a horse hair brush to apply to wood it works very well. I took it one step further and torched it. Don’t glaze before torch unless you like to watch it 🔥. Looks 😎 if u can 🌬 out.
