this is Lu An Gua Pian (Lu'an Melon Seed tea), a chinese green tea. it is one of the few chinese greens i really enjoy. it was first documented in around 800 AD. its a light and sweet green tea, though less umami than a sencha, it still holds its own.

this is okumusashi (おくむさし釜炒り茶), a japanese kamairicha. kamairicha is a pan fried green tea (whereas sencha is steamed). this is a lot closer to how old chinese teas used to be produced. its quite interesting, lighter than sencha but still enough umami.

this is chan cha, a chinese red [black] tea made from a Shaolin monk (Fa Yu Shi Fu). "chan cha" just means "monk tea". this is maybe my favorite chinese black tea, it tastes like dates. there is a video that says more [https://youtu.be/b4K0W0VD8bI]

this is loose leaf chamomile (a tisane, not a tea). i remain convinced that loose leaf tea (provided it is good quality) doesnt even compare to tea bags, and this is no different with classic herbal teas like chamomile. it is cheap and smells amazing

Tsuyuhikari (つゆひかり) is an amazing, but odd, sencha. it is a cross between Shizu 7132 and Asatsuya cultivars, making it a softer and more balanced Shizu 7132. one of my favorites.

Chiran (知覧) is a sweet and nutty sencha (that smells like lots of seaweed). it has a weirdly "wet" taste. it's an example of a single cultivar, single producer tea.

most sencha you find in Japan is "multi producer/multi cultivar" - this means that the sencha itself is a mix of many different batches of tea, working to achieve a balance. though it may seem odd, there are a few who are renowned for their skill in this
