Drawing this conclusion from Voskil's Other Means Principle, specifically the last section.

In the BCH example, to me it would not have been futile to resist just because, let's say, 65% of miners decided to implemented the parasitic code. You can stay and suffer on a minority chain and continue to try to transact with others doing the same.
I have control over them if I run a full node. The question is, will me not upgrading be worth it. In a majority miner censorship situation, non-censor hash is only attracred if tx fees rise.
Yeah I guess the attempt was to siphon from the whole of BCH. Then they went for plan B.
I like when money doesn't change at all, so either a Bitcoin released 09 without any block size limit, or one released with a limit reflecting world commerce, would be examples of experiments I would have liked to see pan out.
BTC is not likely to be good money due to txs fees and complexities in 2nd layers. It can still work for longer transaction periods, i.e. not money, but rather resistance to confiscation while trying to get it to less repressive jurisdictions for example.
As for Visa level number of txs, the BCH block size limit(s) are sufficient, but then you may run into the problem of tinkering around with forks too often, as well as a risk of a corrupt council trying to put extra stuff in those forks.
But if we take the BCH as an example, don't you think it made it less likely to get the imo parasitic 'mining tax' rolled out since many users in BCH can still run their own nodes? Or do you think that is no factor whatsoever in determining outcomes?
I admit I could be wrong about this tradeoff, but you have to sometimes trust your instinct when circumstances are untested and complicated. The miner tax coup attempt in BCH matters, and is consistent with inference from the history of monies.
Limited block size Bitcoin pushes users to trusted third parties, yes. Unlimited block size Bitcoin puts users in another more untested 'subordinate' relationship - no say over consensus rules. I'm happy people can freely choose the version they prefer.

I'm pretty disillusioned with the whole space (except for Numpty Coin obv). But yeah, 1mb is too small. If you can't afford to transact ever again, it's like you don't have a UTXO to guard against evil in the first place.
This is getting out of hand, everyone is cracking jokes on poor Roy's expense. You don't have to be a pain in the ass, ok?
Realistically.. im gonna get the picture of Satoshi.. march down to the Tattooist.. and get his handsome bald head tatted on my left cheek so he faces towards my crack..
Ok, but YOU explain the implementation details to @24, I am probably already close enough to a trolltoll as it is.
Left shoe on the head.
Man, this is crypto. If you find them handling sock puppets, perhaps don't give them the benefit of doubt.
Can't see how an additional scam-culture would foster the better Twetch you talk about.
Perhaps you missed there is clear evidence it's a scam. @6345 found the sockpuppet accounts on Twitter with identical tweets and tens of thousands of fake followers.
If you knew this and still defend "her", that's one hell of a hill to die on.
In what way?
We are going to see a Roy Murphy ass tattoo publicly funded before BoostPoW, aren't we?

I've been humbled too many times to be a gladiator.
If they don't care about the integrity of century old legal institutions, they sure as hell don't care about the integrity of money. The money is a gold mine, a Philosopher's stone, as the vein that is money extraction elsewhere in the economy, runs dry.
Gold can't change. Gold can't have civil wars. In this sense, Bitcoin is not like 'digital gold'.

Arbitrarily expanding the Supreme Court is what will get you armed insurrections in the end.
Will you reveal to us what you are going to do with this pic, or is it for.. personal consumption?
Don't trade what you consider is undervalued by orders of magnitude for god's sake.
Check out this conversation with @24 about bitcoin, Austrian economics, and how proof of work can help us make better decisions.
Pop the champagne bottles everybody, the economy is booming. Who knew easy money was the medicine it needed all along?
