Just Twitter. I use that for purposes I wouldn't call personal though.
I've never left here. I just haven't been active here. So much low information nonsense.
Yes, group chats are a good thing... But, they aren't the platform as a whole.
That's not how these things tend to work.
Sure, if people are forced to be here, it will develop that way, but it's more likely they'll leave the platform. Easier for them.
This isn't high school. Cliques don't work the same way here.
Do you see those buttons on the top of the feed? There's more than one of them to choose from.
And the existence of periphery subgroups doesn't fit the description of subculture.
The entire dynamic should be different for Twetch. I agree. But to get there, the homogenization of the culture needs to stop. It doesn't scale, socially speaking.
That... Isn't how this works at all.
And, look at the thread. There's more here than just the original post.
...
Your point being?
Is that what I did?
Tell me, where did I indicate knowledge of the sock puppet accusation, let alone evidence in support of the accusation?
When have I ever given reason to believe I'd support a scammer?
Stop being an idiot. You're better than that.
This is why I don't spend time here.
Even otherwise intelligent, interesting people turn into low information zombies here.
It's a homogeneous culture of making everything a joke.
Well, hurray. That means you're a joke, too.
Then stop being a low information fool and start reading what I'm actually saying.
Good lord...
You're latching onto literally the least important part of what I'm saying.
Start listening.
Btw, did nobody see the word "might" on my original post?
What does that word even mean? Anyone know?
...
I'm talking past everyone, aren't I?
I haven't defended anyone. Hell, it really doesn't matter who this individual is, or if they're scamming. That's not my point.
Maybe this individual is not the one I want them to be. But my point stands.
Will "X specific culture" coming into Twetch make Twetch immediately palatable?
No. Probably not.
It's not about "X specific culture" though.
So many people here are low information dweebs who think they're great because of memes.
It's a homogeneous culture.
I don't spend time here precisely because of that.
This is a case where diversity of culture for diversity's sake is a good thing.
I've been told that many times. Rarely has it come true. It's a phrase that isn't actually about truth.
Instead, it's cultural signalling.
And you're demonstrating my point, at least in part.
I don't know or care whether that's the case.
I don't see how they transition from what Twetch is today into something where it's not the people on the platform who are the value proposition, but maybe they've got something up their sleeves.
NFTs aren't it, I'll tell you that, though.
With three healthy sub-cultures, Twetch will become something far greater than it is today, and past that point, they'd have to work to stifle their user base in order to reverse that course (see also, Twitter, Facebook, etc. with censorship, etc.)
People are yearning for a place like Twetch, but they need to have a value proposition to join...
The tech, the platform? That's not the value proposition.
The people are.
At least, that's how it is in today's design of Twetch...
If the Twetch founders see how important this is, they'll immediately shift gears to stay out of @45927's way, while letting the currently dominant culture live on its own, and they'll start directly attracting a third sub-culture into Twetch.
Right now, Twetch is highly uniform in terms of its culture. I've criticized this in the past, too.
It's also self-perpetuating in that culture, as it draws others into it.
Twetch needs at least one more sufficiently different culture in order to grow.
With two distinct cultures, this creates room for those cultures to interact, which is the seed for new kinds of interactions to form, and it lowers the barriers to the development of a third sub-culture.
Over time, homogenization will diminish this way.
A few factors.
First, awareness. Awareness of what I would call fostering a culture, as well as the implications of that.
Second, existing following. If many follow @45927 to Twetch, it will create a real sub-culture in Twetch.
@45927 might be the first person I've seen on Twetch who could change the cultural dynamics of Twetch enough to make it worth my time again.
Amazon has their own flavor of epub. A little different, but mostly just a wrapper for epub. But, because they control it, they get to do a few things that simplify conversations for them, I suspect.
I am doing today with reckless abandon.
PDF --> EPub conversions are notoriously bad.
PDF is just too broad of a standard to make such conversions a simple process.
But if that's what you're stuck with, Calibre is probably your best tool for the job.
