Yes, I agree, "just have a go at it". Those numbers are close but I can't find my old data... a Railroad bearing company said they wanted their metal to work well on the moon. I thought they meant "cold"... maybe they were serious...
I had a heat treatment process patented off of my research 20 years ago. Pump argon into the kiln to stop oxidation. Heat to 1100 C. Quench in oil heated to 90 C. That should help with the brittleness and oxidation. Make sure your oil is deep enough. 🔥

It has 4" through the spindle with liner options for bar feeder although I don't do much bar work. It is mostly used for medium to large castings like this where the length and swing over are a necessity.
