They wave it around constantly, but if you ask them to define it, measure it, or explain who actually exercises power, the conversation suddenly becomes very uncomfortable.\r\nBTC's entire governance model revolves around a tiny number of influential developers, repository gatekeepers, policy setters, infrastructure providers, and corporate interests.\r\nYet somehow this is called decentralization.\r\nMasterCard at least has the courtesy to admit it has governance.\r\nBTC's greatest trick was convincing people that governance disappears if everyone agrees not to talk about it.\r\nThe result is a movement full of people chanting \"decentralization\" while defending one of the most tightly controlled protocol development processes in existence.\r\nIt's not decentralization.\r\nIt's faith healing for software engineers.",
