USDSV Stablecoin

A decentralized stablecoin on BSV

IMPORTANT DISCLAIMER: USDSV is an experimental, decentralized, and community-driven idea without an issuer or central party. Participants should exercise caution, recognizing its experimental nature and the absence of a guarantee for maintaining a $1 peg. USDSV has no developers, maintainers, or official project status; extreme caution is advised for those exploring this experimental concept.

THIS IS AN EXPERIMENTAL AND THEORETICAL CONCEPT. UTILIZE AT YOUR OWN DISCRETION AND ACKNOWLEDGE ANY ASSOCIATED RISKS. ANY FINANCIAL LOSSES INCURRED ARE THE SOLE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE USER.

Theory

The success of USDSV is grounded in a fundamental theory derived from the inherent social dynamics shaping trust in traditional fiat currencies. Societal trust in traditional monetary systems evolves through shared beliefs, collective acceptance, and a proven track record. USDSV, mirroring this trust-centric model, taps into the human inclination to collectively uphold a common value, fostering stability through the shared commitment of its participants. As contributors become stakeholders in the USDSV ecosystem, a sense of ownership and shared responsibility bolsters its resilience.

In essence, the theory behind USDSV posits that by replicating societal mechanisms fostering trust in fiat, it can create a stable and resilient ecosystem, showcasing the power of decentralized social trust in the evolving landscape of digital currencies. This decentralized and community-driven token is designed to mimic the stability and trust associated with traditional fiat currencies, pegged to the value of $1. The concept of social trust, proven over centuries, holds tangible potential, and USDSV pioneers the exploration of social trust as a foundation for stablecoins, redefining perceptions and engagement with stable digital assets within the crypto space.

Key Features

Trust-Backed Value: USDSV has no physical or tangible backing but derives its value solely from the trust and commitment of its community members. Similar to traditional fiat currencies, USDSV's stability relies on the collective understanding and adherence of the community to maintain its value at $1.

Fixed Value Peg: USDSV's trust-based model is designed to always equal $1. Community members are encouraged to buy or sell USDSV at this fixed value, creating a stable environment for the coin. Any deviations from the $1 peg are actively discouraged to maintain the trust and stability of the coin.

Smart Contract Technology: USDSV is issued fairly on a decentralized blockchain (BSV) using smart contract technology. The smart contract ensures the automatic issuance of new coins into the circulating supply without the need for a trusted issuer or 3rd party.

Trust Assurance on Exchanges: To fortify the trust-based foundation of USDSV, exchanges—integral members of the active DEFI community—are encouraged to implement warnings within their platforms. These warnings should actively discourage users from engaging in USDSV exchanges at values below $1. It's crucial, however, that they do not entirely disable the free market dynamics; instead, they should serve to guide and influence user behavior, promoting stability while allowing the natural forces of the market to operate. This Exchange Assurance Trust mechanism aims to strike a delicate balance, ensuring the coin's peg to $1 remains intact, while respecting the principles of a free and open market.

Scalably Advantage: USDSV leverages the advantages of a scalable blockchain (BSV), ensuring that transaction fees remain consistently low. This scalability is a critical factor that sets USDSV apart from stable coins on unscalable blockchains where the cost to move even a small amount can surpass the transaction value. With USDSV operating on a scalable infrastructure, users can transact with minimal fees, enhancing the coin's utility and cost-effectiveness for microtransactions. This scalability not only aligns with the practical use of stablecoins in daily transactions but also reinforces USDSV's vision of providing a seamless and economically viable experience for the community.

Notably Different: Unlike traditional stablecoins that rely on a central entity holding collateral to maintain a stable peg, USDSV operates on a fundamentally different principle, community trust. The absence of a central party or a reserve of assets eliminates the need for regulation and audits typically associated with stablecoins.

USDSV's trust-based stability is derived solely from the community's commitment to uphold the $1 peg, rendering traditional audit processes unnecessary. The decentralized, free, and transparent nature of USDSV's issuances ensures that the token's value is maintained collectively by the community, minimizing the risks associated with centralized control and enhancing the social nature of the ecosystem.

Deployment Details

An overview of the token deployment.

The open source Lock-to-Mint (LTM) Smart Contract can be at: https://github.com/shruggr/ltm.

Supply - 99.99 Billion This ensures a mid-size market capable of real commerce.

Lock Length - 52,500 Blocks The total amount of time (measured in blocks) the BSV must be locked.

Lock Amount - 0.0001 BSV For each 0.0001 BSV locked for 52,500 blocks, 1 USDSV will enter the circulating supply.

Note: 0.0001 BSV is the requirement regardless of the current BSV/USD exchange rate, which may not equal $1. This discrepancy is unavoidable but also practically irrelevant given the true cost to mint which is zero due to the locked BSV coins eventually being returned.

Start Block - 826,000 USDSV will begin flowing into circulation at this block height on a first come first serve basis.
