We are all the prodigal son. The knowledge of good and evil is our narrow sense of morality which we apply to the broadness of everything as if we have a higher vantage point/context than God (pride). Think of Jesus as a target hash to solve or atone for the fall of man. Realizing Jesus empties/forgives you of sin and replaces it with eternal virtues, light. Maybe God hides to allow this computation to take place, to create the concept of faith. Maybe he is mining sons and daughters into his eternal kingdom and family.
