The way I see it... it's no different than the "trust" we put in USD or any other central bank issued fiat (which we all know is trash). 

I'm actually really digging the experiment. If the time you plan to hold your BSV (regardless of price) is greater than the lock period, then the risk is effectively zero, even if the peg doesn't hold. If people have it in them to trust fiat... there's no reason this couldn't work.
