‘Why Use Counter-Terrorism Police If Not Terror-Related?’ Cops Rule Out Motive in Widdecombe Murder. 

Police investigating the death of former Tory minister Ann Widdecombe have released a 26-year-old man who had been arrested on suspicion of murder and say he is no longer part of the inquiry. The 78-year-old was found with serious injuries at her Devon home, but detectives have stressed there is currently no evidence of a terrorist or political motive. Officers are continuing house-to-house inquiries and reviewing footage as they search for answers, while politicians and friends pay tribute to one of Britain’s most outspoken public figures.
