I wrote this after watching the recent discussions around a wallet entropy bug (in the BTC ecosystem) and the wide range of reactions that followed. Some people argued that no computer should ever be trusted to generate a wallet seed.

The truth is more nuanced.

Entropy is simply the randomness used to create the secret that ultimately controls your bitcoin. A private key is just a very large number. If that number is created with weak or predictable randomness, it becomes easier to guess. If it’s created with sufficient entropy, the number is effectively impossible to predict.

A BIP-39 seed phrase (the familiar 12 or 24 words) doesn’t create that randomness. It simply encodes it into a form that humans can write down and recover later.

The goal of this song is to highlight an important concept in a way that’s fun and memorable.

Good security doesn’t come from asking every user to become a cryptography expert. It comes from building systems that generate strong entropy correctly and reliably.
