🕰️ AUCTION — CASIO GAME-301 (GM-301), 1982. NEW OLD STOCK, TAG STILL ON.

Casio built six game watches in the early 80s. Six. GM-10, GM-20, GM-30,
GM-301, GM-40, GM-401. Almost nobody owns the full set.

This is the GM-301 — module 222, 1982, the steel-cased one. The rarer half
of the pair (the GM-30 is the resin version; Casio charged ten dollars more
for this case and made fewer of them).

WHY THIS SERIES MATTERS
Casio's other game watches were toys that told the time. This series was the
opposite: a proper watch that happened to hide a game. Time, date, daily
alarm, hourly chime, chronograph, micro-light — in the same case family as
the AX line. You could wear it to work in 1982 and nobody knew you were
playing Submarine Battle under the desk.

THE GAME
You're a sub. Cruisers on the surface drop depth charges. You shoot them at
four exact intervals to light up 1-2-3-4 on the left, then you get a few
seconds to hit the cruiser itself for the bonus. Three lives. It gets faster
every round. On a screen that size it has no business being this playable.

WHY THIS ONE IS DIFFERENT
The known weakness of this series is circuit degradation — 44-year-old
modules go erratic, lock up mid-game, drop the display. A working GM-301 is
already scarce. Serviced used examples trade at $200-600, and a dealer with
a full service on it asks €380.

This one has never been worn. New old stock. The original tag is still
attached. It has spent four decades not being a watch.
